What is Neutropenia?
A
A low Neutrophil count (below 1.5).

What are the types of Neutropenia (3)?
A
- Mild - 1-1.5.
- Moderate - 0.5-1.
- Severe - <0.5.

Why should Neutropenia be recognised ASAP?
A
Preisposition to Severe Infection.

Aetiology of Neutropenia (7).
A
- Viral (HIV, EBV, Hepatitis).
- Drugs.
- Benign Ethnic Neutropenia (Black).
- Haematological Malignancies.
- Rheumatological Conditions + SLE (Circulating Antineutrophil Antibodies) + RA (Hypersplenism - Felty’s).
- Severe Sepsis.
- Haemodialysis.

Give 3 drugs that can cause neutropenia.
A
- Cytotoxics.
- Carbimazole.
- Clozapine.
- Carbamazepine (Agranulocytosis).
