Approaches: Circling approach differences/procedure?

Answer 1

Delay config full (flaps full) until final descent to land after turning base.

*Once visual - bird on, 45deg turn left or right to circle
*Wings level - time 30sec before turning downwind
*Downwind - activate secondary F-PLN
*Abeam downwind threshold - time (3sec/100ft of alt to lose (no wind comp))
*Base/final - maintain approx 25deg bank, flaps full, checklist

Question 2

Approaches: Early stabalised approach config distances (AEO/OEI)?

Answer 2

(All distances are “no closer than” before FDP)
AEO:
Flaps 1 = 5nm
Flaps 2 = 3nm
Gear down = between F2&3
Flaps 3 = 2nm
Flaps Full = 1nm

OEI:
Flaps 1 = 4nm
Flaps Full = 0.3nm (once starting descent)
all others the same

Approaches: 2D approach?
When to setup FPA, corrections?

Answer 3

Setup:
- 1nm before FDP = Track/FPA and set -3.0deg
- 0.3nm before FDP = pull FPA

Correction:
- 0.1deg for every 10ft
- 1.0deg for every 100ft
