What is a trial denture?
A preliminary denture placed into the patient mouth to assess JRR and anesthetics
What is a try in verification?
Preliminary insertion of partial or complete removable denture wax-up to determine the fit, anesthetics and JRR
Why is there a need for try in?
To evaluate and verify the previous steps
To verify tooth selection for aesthetics
To check if the denture is compatible with the oral environment
What is centric relation (CR) ?
The most posterior superior position of the mandibular condyles in the TMJ
What is centric occlusion (CO)?
In centric occlusion the condyles sits bilateral within the glenoid fossa
Name the extra oral examination of the trial denture ?
Visual inspection of the set-up on the articulator (incisal pin, VDO,closed screws)
Ax of master cast (good shapec,no bubbles, no wax debris,no undercut- go kobega)
Ax of denture ( stability, rounded edges?
Ax of teeth (anesthetics)
Name the intra oral examination in try-in?
Disinfect the trail denture and wash in running water
First check the dentures separately then together
over and under extension
Post dam can be done at this stage to increase retention
Ax of retention and stability
What causes instability?
Warpage (being bend) of denture base
Torus
Posterior teeth not in neutral zone (set too buccal to the alveolar ridge)
Main aim of the try in denture is to achieve?
Restore function, aesthetics, achieve pt comfort
