**All members in uniform (dress uniform or fatigues) shall keep their hair neat, tidy and well-groomed

HAIR

When personnel are:

  • Assigned to Firefighting, Training or Maintenance.
  • Involved in an activity that long hair poses a health and safety risk.
  • Wearing a full dress uniform.
  1. Should be contoured to what shape, and away from ?
  2. Should NOT extend past the top edge of what ?
  3. Hair that is longer shall be bound with what ?
  4. What colour are the elastics ?
  5. This keeps hair away from what ? As to not interfere with?
A

Dress uniform/fatigues

  1. Contoured to the shape of the head and away from the ears
  2. Shall NOT extend past the top edge of the shirt collar
  3. Hair that is longer will be bound and braided with hairpins barrettes or elastics neutral in colour that keep the hair off the face and does not interfere with the headband or secure fit of the uniform hats.

PPE

  1. Groomed in such a way that it does not pose any occupational hazard at any time
  2. must not interfere with the donning of any protective clothing, interfere with the SCBA face piece seal, or be exposed at any time when protective clothing is being worn
  3. Longer hair that is bound and braided will be tucked into personal protective clothing and will not interfere with protective head gear

HAIR

While in PPE long hair shall be groomed and not pose an occupational hazard. Must not interfere with donning scba or facepiece seal. Should NOT BE EXPOSED at ANY TIME.

TATOOS

While on duty or representing BF&ES, uniformed personnel shall not do what in regards to tattoos

  • display body art (including branding, body alterations and scarring) or tattoos that may be perceived to be offensive

TATOOS

**Offensive body art or tattoos include, but are not limited to the following:**

A
  • Graphics that may be interpreted as criminal or gang affiliation;
  • Graphics that may contravene any section of the Ontario Human Rights Code; and,
  • **Graphics that may be contrary to community expectations or standards, such as, words, phrases, profane language and symbols that insight a negative public impression. **

IMPORTANT (medical jewelery)

Wearing Adornments - PIEARCINGS

**All Personnel may wear only jewelry, adornments or accessories that are consistent with ?**

  1. Consistant with what kind of attire ?
  2. Not excessively what ?
  3. All MEDICAL necklaces MUST be placed where ?

  • conservative business attire
  • not excessively decorative
  • ****ALL necklaces, if worn, including those denoting medical problems such as Medic-Alert necklaces or religious medals,

ANY PIERCING adornments are STRICTLY PROHIBITED when:

  1. ❤️When personnel are assigned to what divisions?
  2. When they are involved in an activity that poses?
  3. ❤️ANY time personnel are wearing what uniform ?

  • **Personnel are assigned to Firefighting, Training. **
  • Personnel are involved in an activity where piercing adornments pose a health and safety risk.
  • ANY personnel wearing a FULL DRESS UNIFORM

NO PIERCINGS

EVEN IN DRESS UNIFORM
