A

We find that this was the most important African American civil leaders in the US, who was a part of the Civil RIghts movement. His movement was resisting the segregation and racial injustice as well as discrimination during this time. A

We find that during this time, in South Africa, there was a white minority government, that was still able to codify a system of racial segregation known as an Apartheid. (LO.9: A man of color was able to lead revolts and resistance against this. He was a lawyer that was able to lead the movement with nonviolent protests. We find how many people were able to join these resistance movements to be able to fight injustice in the power structure during this time.)

New modes of communication 9.1

A

There was a huge advance in the amount of communication and transportation during this time. In the beginning things like better radios and TVs, that could communicate news, information, music, culture, etc. Later on it was computers and mobiles that could help share all types of information. We find how planes, boats, trains and cars began to help this communication and globalization happen as well. (LO.1: We find how technological developments are able to contribute a lot to the ways that people can interact including transportation as well as digital communication that makes it possible for communication to happen even from opposite sides of the earth.)

Medical Innovations (include vaccines and antibiotics) 9.1

A

During this time we find how there was a lot of innovation in the medical field of the world. As time went on things like antibiotics, vaccines, and birth control, that was able to decline death rates as well as fertility rates during this time. (LO.1: New ways to be able to help disease were able to help a lot of people and populations to be able to survive, and it was able to lead to longer lives. We find how new innovations are also able to open up the door to more innovations that could help more of the diseases in the world.)

Covid-19 Pandemic 9.2

A

This is a pandemic that happened in 2020, that was able to affect the lives of millions. It was a virus, which can be very deadly especially to the older population, and that was extremely contagious (some people can be asymptomatic). (LO.2: We find how because of the globalization and the amount of ways that people were connected during the pandemic, it was a lot easier to be able to get this disease and spread it. We find how it was very dangerous and caused a lot of deaths.)

Diseases of poverty 9.2

A

We find that some diseases are able to remain dangerous even when the preventions are created, the effects of poverty and little access to things like vaccinations, antibiotics and other types of preventions. (LO.2: Another way that people that struggle financially can be at more risk to some of these diseases is because of the environment around them. In unhygenic places it is more likely to be at risk for these types of diseases which people that don’t have access to vaccines or medicine have to struggle through and it is often a cause for death.)

A

We find that since people began to live longer lives, there was an increase in the amount of diseases that came from simple old age. These are diseases like heart disease or alzheimer disease. These are diseases that are commonly affected by genetics, lifestyle and old age. (LO.2: We find how a lot of changes during this time were able to lead to how people were able to have longer live spams. The growth of technology and knowledge can lead to discoveries that can allow this. This is why new diseases of old age begin to appear.)

A

We find that as time went on there were changes that had to be made to the world to fit the current population. Things like a growing population, the effects of urbanization and globalization were able to cause and impact these changes. (LO.3: There are a lot of changes that affect the environment. The growth of Urbanism can lead to a lot of issues concerning the environment since it can be harmful to have more Urban areas than not. As well as this growing cities can be very harmful to pollution and can lead to global warming.)

When a country is able to open up its economy to the rest of the world. This includes how governments can begin to put less restrictions on the trade policies that it would usually have in a country, and let private estate owners trade more. (LO.4: We find how countries opening up their economies can be considered a continuity, since we find how before this time things like the open door trade policy was similar to these ideas.)

He was a Chinese leader, and under his rule we find how the communist party in China backed away from economic communism and moved towards an idea of economic growth instead. (LO.4: In China there was a lot of change that went on during this time since it began to stray away from communist ideas and communist economies and instead focus on growing the economy and becoming extremely successful with this.)

A

We find how some places started using education to be successful in their economies. We find how these economies usually are able to invest in research, communications and technologies to further expand this economy. (LO.4: We find how these types of economies are able to be a change because of the way that the advancements in technology and communication as well as education was able to make these types of economies possible and successful.)

It was able to rule over more than 90% of the world’s international trade. It is controversial because it favors and is more interested in giving corporate benefits and not the morally correct. (LO.4,7: We find how this organization was a direct response to the effects of globalization in the way that by being able to have a guideline or having rules that most of the international trade companies have to follow there can be control and growth with these things. However this organization does focus more on how it can benefit corporate most.)

These are companies that are legally established in one country but sell to other countries as well. We find how they benefit from both traditional and knowledge economies. (LO.4: During this time, we find how these corporations were a continuity to the idea of being able to have companies that are settled in many places. The Dutch East India Company as well as several others are examples of the earliest forms of these companies.)

A

This was a regional organization in Asia, that was able to contribute to economic growth. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and a couple other nations are members of this organization. (LO.4: We find how this organization was a change in the way that a lot of these countries were able to gain a lot more benefits and economic growth because of this organization. It also was able to facilitate things like trade and trade agreements with other states.)

A

This was a document of what was considered basic human rights and fundamental freedoms for all humans. The document states that every person regardless of race, gender, language, religion, political or other opinions, has entitlement to these rights. (LO.5: We find how this document was able to help the UN help other nations to fight for their Human Rights. By having this document the Human Rights movements happening during this time were able to gain more power in being able to be successful.)

A

This was an act in the US that was able to outlaw discrimination towards race, color, religion, or national origin. This was some of the steps that the federal government would take towards the civil rights of all human beings. (LO.5: We find how because of this act it became easier for people who were often discriminated before to begin to have more opportunities. Whilst discrimination was often times still present the act was a step in the right direction for change during this time.)

Green Belt Movement 9.5

A

This was a movement that happened in 1977 that was lead by Kenyan Activist Wangari Maathai, that was a direct response to the environmental degradation that happened from colonial rule. (LO.5: This movement was very helpful in how women were able to bring about change and help with teaching women to be able to participate for change instead of leaving it up to others. This is because the movement was made up of women of rural Kenya to help plant trees to improve the soil.)

A

This is the name given to the popularized film industry in Bombay (Mombai), that was popular internationally. It was a blend of many film styles. We find how because of this India makes the most films out of any country. (LO.6: We find how globalization can be very influential to the spread of culture. With Bollywood we find how these films being popular worldwide is able to spread a lot of Indian culture to the rest of the world. It also allows for the Bollywood industry to be extremely important to a lot of countries.)

A

Soccer is the most popular sport in the whole world. This is a soccer competition that rivals against the Olympics as the biggest global sports event. (LO.6: We find how globalization can affect popular culture in the way that having a popular thing like a sport, can make it more influential. With soccer we find how since it is the most popular sport worldwide, it is often one of the most practiced sports in countries.)

United Nations 9.8

A

This is an international organization that’s main goal is to preserve global peace as much as possible. It has many missions that it reaches towards including, preventing famine, protecting refugees, supporting education, etc. We find how it fights still for human rights and has many challenges that sometimes prevent the organization from being able to act on it’s goals. (LO.8: We find that globalization whilst being good for the economy of many nations, the spread of culture, and knowledge, but it is difficult to maintain peace and keep conflicts from happening. As well as this we find how globalization often times may benefit some states over others.)
