Flooding can work in as little as one session due to the immediate exposure and extinction of the phobia compare to SD which can take up to 10 sessions.
Therefore flooding is more appropriate and cost effective therapy.

Patient may experience extreme anxiety as they are exposed to their most feared stimulus for 2 -3 hours.
Schumacher found ppts rated flooding as more stressful and the traumatic nature would mean the attrition rate would be higher.
