Separation Anxiety Disorder
A. Developmentally inappropriate and excessive fear regarding separation
B. 4 weeks in children; 6 months in adults
Selective Mutism
A. Consistent failure to speak in specific settings but not in others
B. Duration of at least 1 month
C. Failure to speak not due to lack of knowledge of comfort with required language
Specific Phobia
A. Anxiety about specific object or situation B. Provokes immediate anxiety C. Avoided stimulus D. Disproportionate anxiety E. At least 6 months
Social Anxiety Disorder
A. Anxiety in social situations during which exposed to scrutiny (in children has to be present with peer group) B. Avoidance C. Disproportionate D. Avoidance E. At least 6 months
Panic Disorder
A. Recurrent, unexpected panic attacks
B. Persistent worry about future attacks OR maladaptive behaviors to avoid future attacks for at least 1 month
Agoraphobia
A. Fear of being out in public due to belief that it will not be easy to escape or help may not be available if needed due to panic like symptoms
B. At least 6 months
C. Disproportionate
D. Avoidance
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
A. At least 6 months; worry more days than not B. Difficulty controlling worry C. Three or more (one in children) —Restlessness —Fatigue —Difficulty concentrating —Irritability —Muscle tension —Sleep disturbance
