present alone or with other psychiatric/physical conditions

what are risk factors for anxiety disorder?
- family history
- childhood adversity - significant life trauma

- certain personality traits - busy/high strung ppl

- poor physical and/or mental health
what are the general symptoms of anxiety disorders?
- Physical Symptoms. SOB, sweaty palms, palpitations, nausea, dizziness, hot flushes
- Behaviour Symptoms. Coping strategies eg: avoidance strategies, engaging in risky behaviour, escaping anxiety producing situations
- Emotional Symptoms. Worry, apprehension, distress, nervousness, panic, feeling uneasy
- Cognitive symptoms. Thoughts that we have when we are anxious eg: “ What if….happens?”, “People will laugh at me”,
