What is Anxiety?
Unrealistic and unfounded fear and anxiety
What is a panic disorder, and what are some physical symptoms?
Episodic attacks of acute anxiety.
Physical symptoms:
- Shortness of breath
- Dizziness
- Increase HR
- Clammy sweat
- Faintness
Name some anxiety scales.
- Beck’s Anxiety Inventory (BAI)
- Depression Anxiety Stress Scale
- Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM-A)
- Tale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS)
What is the relationship between sedentary behaviour and anxiety?
Sedentary behaviour is associated with increased risk for anxiety.
What is the relationship between physical activity and anxiety?
Higher levels of PA seems to be protective of developing depression and anxiety.
In terms of anxiety, what happens after exercise withdrawal?
There is an increase in anxiety following exercise withdrawal, the longer this goes on the greater the increase in symptoms.
What is Depression?
A pathological state of extreme dejection or melancholy, often with physical symptoms.
