-NOT enterococci, anaerobes, G- cocci or bacilli
Broad spectrum penicillin spectrum
same as natural spectrum, + more G- bacilli
- 2 GIT: Salmonella, Shigella
- 2 UTI: E. coli, Proteus
- 2 Resp: H. influenzae, Pertussis
Extended spectrum penicillin spectrum
- anti pseudomonal
- same as natural spectrum + G- bacilli (KEEPS)
- Klebsiella, E. coli, Enterobacter, Proteus, Serratia
1st Gen Cephalosporin spectrum
G+ cocci: S. aureus, S. epidermidis; S. pneumoniae, S. pyogenes, anaerobic strep
G- bacilli: E. coli, K. pneumoniae, P. mirabilis
2nd Gen Cephalosporin spectrum
G+ cocci: S. pneumoniae, S. pyogenes, anaerobic strep
G- cocci: N. gonorrhea
G bacilli: Enterobacter aerogenes, E. coli, H. influenzae, K. pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis
3rd Gen Cephalosporin spectrum
G- cocci: N. gonorrhea
G- bacilli: E. aerogenes, E. coli, K. pneumoniae, P. mirabilis, H. influenzae, P. aeruginosa
4th Gen Cephalosporin spectrum
Wide spectrum G+ & G-
Carbapenem spectrum
G+ cocci: S. aureus, S. epidermidis, S. pneumoniae, Strep A, B and C, Enterococcus faecalis
G- cocci: N. meningitidis, N. gonorrhea
Natural Penicillin Spectrum
- G+ cocci: S. aureus, S, epidermidis, Strep pneumoniae, viridans & pyogenes
- G- cocci: N. gonorrhea, N. meningitidis
- G+ bacilli: B. anthraxis, C. diphtheriae
- Anaerobes (non-B-lactamase producing): C. tetani, C. perfringens
- Spirochaetes: T. pallidum
