Antifibrinolytic drugs Flashcards
1
Q
What are the aim of antifibrinolytic drugs?
A
They promote drug clotting in order to stop bleeding e.g. after surgery, thrombolytic overdose, menorrhagia
2
Q
What is the MoA of antifibrinolytics?
A
Prevent the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin by reversibly binding to the lysine binding sites on the plasminogen. Therefore we don not get breakdown of the clot through fibrinolysis.
