antibodies in medicine Flashcards
what is a monoclonal antibody
is a single type of antibodies tat ca be isolated and cloned
what are monoclonal used for
- medical treatment
- diagnosis
- pregnancy test
what is direct monoclonal antibody therapy
- used to treat cancers
- create antibodies which has a binding site which is complementary to the shape to the antigens outsider of cancerous cells
what is direct monoclonal antibody therapy
-used to treat cancers
-create antibodies which has a binding site which is complementary to the shape to the antigens outsider of cancerous cells
-does not harm normal cells
the antibodies are given to the patient to attach to cancer cells antigens this prevents chemical binding to cancer cells which enable uncontrolled cell division
what’s indirect monoclonal antibody therapy
has drugs attached to it
-delivered directly to cancer cells and kills them
elisa testing
3 different types of monoclonal antibodies
mobile antibody elisa testing
first the mobile antibody which is complementary for the antigen being tested is attached with a coloured enzyme
immobilised
a second immobilized antibody complimentary to antigen
a third immobilised antibody which is to test for the first antibody
