Antibiotics Flashcards

1
Q

Fluorchinolone

A

Antibiotics: Chinolone = Fluorchinolone

  • Beispiel Ciprofloxacin
  • MOA: Inhibition of Gyrase and Topoisomerase IV: prevents bacterial DNA from unwinding & duplicating
  • can induce QT-prolongation
    (especially: Moxifloxacin, kaum: Levofloxacin)

Q

Macrolide

A
Antibiotic
- Beispiel: Erythromycin, Clarithromycin
- MOA: binding to 23S rRNA in 50S subunit of bacterial ribosome → inhibition of bacterial translation
- can induce QT-prolongation
Prevention:
\+ EKG prior to medication
\+ avoidance of K+/Mg2+ deficit (check + sup)
\+ lowest effective dose
\+ checking co-medication

Q

Penicillin

A

Antibiotic (ß-lactam-A.)
- MOA: inhibition of bacterial transpeptidase that catalyzes cross-linking of bacterial cell walls → death of bacterial cell
