ceftriazone, cefotaxime, ceftazidime
-more serious gram negtative infections
-ceftazidime can do pseudomonas
4th gen cefipime
pseudomonas!
carbapenems
imipenem, meropenem, ertapenem, doripenem
- more gram negatives
- including more resistent strep and stap
- BUT ertapenem does not cover pseudomonas
ticarcillin and piperacillin are antipseudomonials
susceptible to staphs penicillinase so be sure to use a b-lactamase for help!
Aztreonam
gram negative -pseudomonas included
Fluoroquinonlones
cipro, levo, moxi, gemiflox
- good for CAP pneumonia
- most pseudomonds
- cipro for cystitis and pyleo
side effects
bone, tendonitis
aminogylcosides
gentamycin, tobramycin, amikacin, neomycin, streptomycin
- gram negative rods
- NO EFFECT AGAINST ANEROROBES
- nephrotoxi, ototoxic
macrolides
erythromycin, clarithromycin aizthromycin
-atypical pneumonia like legionella, mycoplasma, chlam
