rifampin

A

bactericidal inhibits protein synthesis
treatments of TB given in combination with another anti TB medication to prevent antibiotic resistance
discoloration of body fluids, hepatoxicity, GI discomfort, pseudomembranous colitis
will turn urine sweat, salvia and tears orange no contact lenses
take medication w a glass of water 1-2 hrs before or after meals
use non hormonal form of birth control
improvement of TB s&s
three negative sputum cultures taking 3-6 months
