Anti-platelet Flashcards
What are examples of anti-platelet medications?
NSAID, ADP receptors P2Y12 blocker, GPIIb/Illa Receptor blockers, PDE (3) inhibitor
What are examples of NSAID medications?
Aspirin
What is the MOA of NSAIDS?
COX-1 inhibitors; prevents formation of thromboxane A2
What are examples of ADP receptors P2Y12 blocker?
Clopidogrel, prasugrel, ticagrelor
What is the mOA of ADP receptors P2Y12 blocker?
Blocks ADP activation of process the signals fibrinogen linking of platelets
What are examples of GPIIb/Illa Receptors blockers?
Abciximab, tirofiban, eptifibatide
What is the MOA with GPIIb/Illa Receptor blockers?
Blocks GPIIb/IIIa receptor activity of fibrin linking platelets together
What are examples of PDE (3) inhibitor?
Dipyridamole, cilostazol
What is the MOA of PDE (3) inhibitor?
Inhibition of platelet activation. Also has vasodilation properties
What do anti-platelet medications do?
prevent platelet aggregation by acting on receptors or biochemical processes in the platelet cell or preventing the formation of compounds necessary for these processes to occur
** prevents platelets from clumping to prevent the formation and growth of clots
