Anterior Thigh Muscles Flashcards
Pectineus (Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Action-3)
Origin: Superior Ramus of pubis
Insertion: Pectineal line of femur (Just inferior to lesser trochanter)
Innervation: Femoral Nerve
Action:
- Adducts thigh
- Flexes thigh
- Medial Rotation of thigh
Sartorius (Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Action-4)
Origin: ASIS
Insertion: Superior part of medial surface of tibia
Innervation: Femoral Nerve
Action:
- Flexes thigh
- Abducts
- Laterally rotates thigh
- Flexes leg at knee
Psoas Major (Origin, Insertion, Innervation)
Origin: Sides of T12-L5 vert, transverse processes of all lumbar vert.
Insertion: Lesser trochanter of femur
Innervation: Anterior rami of lumbar nerves (L1, L2, L3)
Iliacus (Origin-4, Insertion-2, Innervation)
Origin:
- Iliac crest
- Iliac fossa
- Ala of sacrum
- Anterior sacroiliac ligament
Insertion:
- Tendon of psoas major
- Lesser trochanter
Innervation: Femoral Nerve
Iliopsoas Action
Flexes/stabilizes thigh at hip joint
Rectus Femoris Origin
AIIS (Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine)
Also helps iliopsoas flex thigh
Vastus Lateralis Origin-2
- Greater trochanter
- Lateral lip of linea aspera
Vastus Medialis Origin-2
- Intertrochanteric line
- Medial lip of linea aspera
Vastus Intermedius Origin
Anterior & Lateral surfaces of shaft of femur
Quadriceps Femoris (Insertion, Innervation, Action)
Insertion:
- Quadriceps tenton->Base of patella->Patellar ligament->Tibial tuberosity
- Medial and lateral vasti aso attach to tibia & patella via aponeuroses (Medial and lateral patellar retinacula
Innervation: Femoral Nerve (L2,L3,L4)
Action: Extends leg at knee
