Origin: ASIS
Insertion: Anteromedial proximal tibia
Action: Hip flexion, abduction, lateral rotation, knee flexion
Innervation: Femoral nerve (L2, L3)
Rectus Femoris
Origin: AIIS and superior to acetabulum
Insertion: Patella via quadriceps tendon and via patella ligament to tibial tubercle
Action: hip flexion, knee extension
Innervation: Femoral nerve (L2-4)
Vastus Lateralis
Origin: Lateral intertrochanteric line, linea aspera, greater trochanter, gluteal tuberosity
Insertion: Patella via quadriceps tendon and via patella ligament to tibial tubercle
Action: Knee extension
Innervation: Femoral nerve (L2-4)
Vastus Intermedius
Origin: Upper 2/3 of anterolateral femur
Insertion: Patella via quadriceps tendon and via patella ligament to tibial tubercle
Action: Knee extension
Innervation: Femoral nerve (L2-4)
Vastus Medialis Longus
Origin: Medial intertrochanteric line and linea aspera, pectineal line and medial supracondylar line
Insertion: Superior border of patella via quadriceps tendon and via patella ligament to tibial tubercle
Action: Knee flexion
Innervation: Femoral nerve (L2-4)
Vastus Medialis Obliquus
Origin: Adductor magnus tendon
Insertion: Medial border of patella via quadriceps tendon and via patella ligament to tibial tubercle
Action: Knee extension
Innervation: Femoral nerve (L2-4)
