Origin: T12 to L5 Vertebrae

Iliac fossa

L1-L3 ventral Rami
What innervates the iliacus?
Femoral N. (L2-L4)
What is the action of the iliopsoas muscle?
hip flexion
What is the strongest hip flexor?
ilipsoas muscle
What are the four parts of the quadraceps femoris muscle?
rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius
Where does the rectus femoris muscle orginate?
Straight head - Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine (AIIS)
Reflected Head - Superior aspect of the acetabulum
Where does the vastus lateralis originate?
femur
Where does the vastus intermedius originate?
femur
Where does the vastus medialis originate?
femur
Where do all of the quadraceps femoris muscles insert?
Patella and Tibial tuberosity via the quadraceps tendon and patellar ligament
What innervates the entire quadraceps femoris muscle?
Femoral N. (L2-L4)
What are the actions of the quadraceps femoris muscles?
knee extension (primarily),
Rectus femoris can weakly flex the hip
Where does the sartorius muscle originate?
anterior superior iliac spine of ilium (ASIS)
Where does the sartorius insert?
the anterior slip of the pes anserinus on the medial aspect of the tibia
What innervates the sartorius muscle?
Femoral N. (L2-L4)
