Anterior compartment of thigh Flashcards
Pectineus
P: superior rami of pubis
D: pectineal line femur inferior to lesser trochanter
N: Femoral nerve L2, L3
A: adducts & flexes thigh, assists in medial rotation
Iliopsoas
Psoas major
P: transverse process of all lumbar vertebrae
D: lesser trochanter of femur
N: Anterior rami of lumbar nerves (L1, L2, L3)
A: flexes thigh at hip and stabilizes joint
Iliopsoas
Psoas minor
P: sides of T12-L1 vertebrae
D: pectineal line, iliopectineal arch
N: Anterior rami of lumbar nerves (L1, L2)
A: flexes thigh, stabilizes hip
Iliacus
P: Iliac crest, iliac fossa, ala of sacrum, anterior sacroliliac ligaments
D: tendon of psoas major, lesser trochanter
N: femoral nerve L2, L3
A: flexes thigh, stabilizes hip
Sartorius
P: Anterior superior iliac spine
D: superior medial tibia
N: fermoral nerve L2, L3
A: flexes, abducts, laterally rotates thigh, flexes leg at knee, medial rotation of leg if knee flexed
Rectus femoris
P: Anterior inferior iliac spine
D: patellar ligament and common tendinous
N: Femoral nerve L2, L3, L4
A: extend leg at knee, stabilizes hip, helps iliopsoas flex thigh
vastus lateralis
P: greater trochanter
D: common tendinous, aponeuroses to tibia & patella
N: femoral nerve L2, L3, L4
A: extends leg at knee
vastus medialis
P: intertrochanteric line
D: common tendinous, aponeuroses to tibia and patella
N: Femoral nerve L2, L3, L4
A: extends leg at knee
vastus intermedius
