Anterior Compartment of the Forearm Flashcards
What is the overall function of the anterior compartment of the forearm?
They perform flexion at the wrist and fingers as well as pronation
What are the different sections in the anterior compartment of the forearm?
Superficial, intermediate and deep
What are the muscles in the superficial section of the anterior compartment of the forearm?
Pronator teres
Flexor carpi radialis
Palmaris longus
Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
What are the muscles in the intermediate layer of the anterior compartment of the forearm?
Flexor digitorum superficialis
What are the muscles in the deep layer of the anterior compartment of the forearm?
Flexor difitorum profundus
Flexor pollicis longus
Pronator quadratus
What is the insertion of the plexor digitorum profundus?
Proximal 3/4 of medial and anterior surfaces of ulna and interosseous membrane
What is the insertion of the medial part of the flexor digitorum profundus?
Bases of distal phalanges f the 4th and 5th digits
What is the insertion of the lateral part of the flexor digitorum profundus?
Bases of the distal phalanges of 2nd and 3rd digits
What is the origin of the flexor polices longus?
Anterior surface of radius and adjacent interosseous membrane
What is the insertion of the flexor polices longus?
Base of the distal phalanx of the thumb
What is the innervation of the flexor digitorum profundus?
Ulnar nerve
What is the innervation oft he flexor policus longus?
Anterior interosseous nerve from median nerve
What is the origin of the pronator quadrates?
Distal quarter of anterior surface of ulna
What is the insertion of the pronator quadratus?
Distal quarter of anterior surface of radius
What is the innervation of the pronator quadratus?
anterior interosseous nerve from median nerve
