Anterior Arm Flashcards
Cubital Fossa
Floor: Brachialis muscle
Roof: ___ aponeurosis
Coracobrachialis
Origin: Coracoid process
Insertion: Distal medial humerus
Innervated: Muscular Cutaneous Nerve C5,C6,C7
Function: Shoulder flexion, Shoulder adduction
Does not cross the elbow!
Brachialis
Origin: Distal anterior humerus
Insertion: Coranoid process (also inserts on ulna tuberosity)
Innvervated: Muscular Cutaneous Nerve C5,C6,C7
Function: Elbow Function
Biceps Brachi
Origin of short head: Coracoid process
Origin of long head: supraglenoid tubercle
Insertion: Biceps Apeneurosis and Radial Tuberosity
Bicep does not connect to the humerus!
Innervated: Muscular Cutaneous Nerve C5,C6,C7
Function: Forearm supination - once the arm is supinated it is a very potent elbow flexor- only the long head helps with shoulder flexion because it crosses the glenerohumeral joint
Long head is held into place by the transverse humeral ligament
Artery in the arm from Axillary Artery
Axillary Artery- Brachial Artery - Profunda Brachial Artery (biggest branch also called deep brachial artery) this goes to the back of the Humerus while the Brachial Artery stays in front
Triceps Brachi
Origin of long head: infraglenoid tubercle
Origin of lateral head: posterior humerus, superior to radial groove
Origin of medial head: posterior humerus, inferior to the radial groove
Insertion: Olecranon process
Innervated: Radial Nerve C6,C7,C8
Function: Elbow extension and the long head can help with shoulder extension
Anconeous
Has no real anatomical function
Origin: lateral epicondyle of the humerus
Insertion: Posterior Ulna
Innervated: Radial Nerve C6,C7,C8
Long head of the triceps travels over the _____ and under the ____
terres major, terres minor
