Anterior and posterior chambers Flashcards
What structure divides the cavity anterior to the lens and lens zonules into two?
iris
How do the anterior and posterior chambers communicate?
through the pupil
What are the boundaries of the posterior chamber of the eye?
approximately triangular:
- base formed by the ciliary processes
- apex is pupil margin
- posterior border is lens and zonular apparatus
- anterior border is posterior surface of the iris
What causes the size of the posterior chamber to vary?
accommodation
What is the path of aqueous humour through the posterior chamber?
is secreted by the ciliary processes continually, enters posterior chamber before passing through the pupil into the anterior chamber
What are the boundaries of the anterior chamber?
- bound in front by the cornea
- bound posteriorly by the anterior iris surface and pupillary portion of the lens
- lateral recess formed by iridocorneal angle occupied by the trabecular meshwork
Where is the anterior chamber deepest and what is its depth at this point?
centrally (3mm)
What is the approximate volume of aqueous humour in the anterior chamber?
250 μL
What is the rate at which aqueous humour is produced?
2-4 μL/minute
