What does the downs triple test incorporate?
The nuchal thickness.
Maternal age
Serum levels of PAPPA and HCG
If >1:250, offer confirmatory testing.
Is hcg High or low in downs’
HCG is high
Inhibin A is also high
What hormones are low in downs?
AFP, PAPPA and estriol.
What would signify twins?
high AFP.
Congenital malformations hormone
High AFP.
Amniocentesis > 15 weeks.
1% miscarriage risk
CVS 12 weeks
2% miscarriage risk.
What genetic test is targeted?
FISH
What genetic tests lets you look at the whole genome?
Array CGH (comparative genomic hybridisation)
Asymmetrical growth restriction suggests what?
Suggests that the deficiency occurs later in pregnancy due to placental insufficiency.
Normal head with smaller body.
Normal volume of amniotic fluid?
500-1500mls
Some causes of polyhydramnios?
Twins, diabetes, hydrous fetal is, fetal anomaly.
What are a few causes of oligohydraminios?
Amniotic fluid < 2cm.
Causes by IUGR, renal agensis, pulmonary hypoplasia.
It is the 14th week of a pregnancy, the triple test is no longer appropriate, what test do you do?
The quadruple test.
HCG, PAPPA< AFP< Unconjygated estriol
What test is helpful for rhesis disease?
Kleihauer test.
What is the ductus venous?
A shunt for blood from left umbilical vein into vena cava.
What is the ductus arteriorus?
Connects pulmonary artery to descending aorta.
