By restricting the food they eat by making themselves vomit and exercising excessively.
Name some factors that could contribute to an individual becoming anorexic
Depression/anxiety, difficult family relationships, physical or sexual abuse, occupations where being thin is the ideal such as dancing/athletics, feelings of obsession or compulsion, stress
What are the symptoms of anorexia?
Intentional weight loss, low self-esteem, bloating/constipation, tiredness, sleeping problems, feeling cold, circulation problems, abdominal pain, headaches, dry skin, discoloured hands and feet due to poor circulation
What treatments can be used to treat and manage anorexia?
Cognitive analytic therapy, focal psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, gaining weight safely, compulsory or voluntary detainment
