How can we use Delay Repay?
During delays we can advise customers to submit a claim to keep them occupied
Give a basic explanation of what the GSM-R is
It’s a communication device mandatoey for all trains; pressing the red button alerts all trains within 15miles to stop
What must we remember when using the GSM-R during an emergency call?
Press the orange button to talk then release it to hear the response!
How do we test the GSM-R?
Dial 1900 to perform an echo test call
What are the types of call made on a GSM-R?
Point to Point
Normal and urgent
Group Call
Broadcast Group and Emergency
Calls are prioritised by urgency
Name some reasons for an urgent call (6)
Track defect on own line
Signal Irregularities / issues
Lineside fire not affecting other line
Train evacuation urgent but not controlled
Unauthorised person(s) in railway boundary
Vandalism e.g stone throwing
What is a group broadcast call?
One-way announcement from signaller/operations controller to all trains in a specific area which may be affected
What is an emergency group call?
Pressing red button alerts all trains within 15 miles; to be used for incidents affecting safety of the line
All can listen in but dont get involved unless you have something of value to add
What are the types of faults that can affect the GSM-R
Fatal Fault
Unit cannot be used at all, so neither can the train
Non fatal fault
Unit can be used with limited functionality
What are the 4 levels of disruption? (Colours)
Green:
No disruption
Amber:
Moderate delays of under 15 mins delay/odd cancellation
Red:
Multiple delays of over 15 mins and significant number of cancellations expected
Black:
Massive disruption affecting a large number of services which may go on for days or weeks.
