Ankle Mobs Flashcards
Malleolar Torsion
natural to have ~15 deg ER of tibia
pt sits off edge of plinth, middle part of med malleolus should be in line with ant lat malleolus. two points should be in line parallel with the plinth
Post mob of Talus
increases DF
convex talus, concave tib-fib
supine, stabilize about malleoli, with web space around talus, give post directed force
Tibial post mob
increases PF
supine, stabilize calcaneus, hands around malleoli, give post directed force
Ant mob of Talus
improves PF
pt lies prone, stabilize underneath malleoli, give ant directed force through the achilles tendon to the talus
watch to not give force through the calcaneus
Ant mob of Tibia
improves DF
pt prone, stabilize dorsal forefoot, ant directed force through the achilles over the malleoli
Calcaneal Medial mob
increases eversion
side-lying on uninvolved side, stabilize ankle with your leg, stabilize talus, apply medially directed force with your thenar eminence over the calcaneus. (not a lot of motion)
Calcaneal lateral mob
increases inversion
pt lies on involved side, support ankle with your leg. stabilize talus, give laterally directed force over calcaneus with your thenar eminence
Superior Fibular Head mob
improves DF
pt sits off edge of table, lock fib head inbetween PIP and index finger, do general mobs, place pt in DF - only done if pt lacks terminal DF
careful of peroneal nerve compression
First MTP ext ROM
need 60-65 deg for gait
AOR - MTP joint
Ray Mobility
inc IP and IMT mobility
stabilize other mets while mob one of them. 1 has most mobility, 2 & 3 more stable, 4 & 5 slight motion
