ankle and foot MMT + other lab measures Flashcards
ankle MMT
take through set up of ankle plantar flexion MMT grade 0-2
-patient prone
- knee flexed to 0 degrees for gastrocnemius and 90 degrees for soleus
clinician position:
- standing on side of test limb
- stabilization posterior, proximal portion of the calf allowing forthe muscle to contract
ankle MMT
ankle plantar flexion MMT grade 3-5
gastrocnemius bias
patient position: standing on single leg
- on hand on wall or assistance from clinican for balance only
clinician position:
- facing patient for support or behind patient for palpation
stabilization:
-standing with wall or clinican support, patients body weight yields stabilization. patients ability to maintain stability is part of the testing
cues:
demonstrate bilateral heel raise for ptient through full ROM.encourage patient to perform up to 25 reps of a single limb heel riase through full ROM
3 = 1-9 heel raises
4 = 10-2 heel raises
5 = ≥25 heel raises
ankle plantar flexion MMT grade 3-5
soleus bias
patient positon: standing on single leg with knee flexed to 20°
one hand on wall or assitance from clinican for balance only
clinician position:
facing patient or behind for palpation
stabilization:
standing using wall or clinican for stabilization, patients body weight yields stabilization. patients ability to maintain stability is part of the testing. stabilize the knee to keep in 20 degrees of knee flexion
cues:
demo a heel raise with 20° of knee flexion for patinet throug hfull ROM and encourage patient to perform up to 25 reps
3 = 1-9 heel raises
4 = 10-2 heel raises
5 = ≥25 heel raises
