A
- The trachea is located in the throat leading to the lungs, choking is prevented by the closing of the epiglottis when food is being swallowed.
- Located infront of the esophagus

Q
Pathway of air during INSPIRATION
A
- Nasal cavities (or oral cavity)
- Pharynx
- Trachea
- Primary bronchi (right & left)
- Secondary bronchi
- Tertiary bronchi
- Bronchioles
- Alveoli (site of gas exchange)
3
Q
Pathway of air during EXPIRATION
A
Carbon dioxide goes from the:
- capillaries
- around the alveoli
- into the alveoli
- up the bronchioles
- bronchi
- trachea to be exhaled
4
Q
Location of gas exchange (CO2 and O2) in the lungs.
A
Gas exchange happens in the alveoli, this is where co2 is taken from the blood into the lungs and exhaled, and where o2 is inhaled into the lungs then into the blood through capillaries in the alveoli.
