Animal Form Flashcards
study of STRUCTURE of THE BODY and relationship of the various parts of the body
Anatomy
3 subdiscipline of anatomy
Microscopic (cytology, histology)
Macroscopic (visible structure)
Developmental (structural changes)
study of FUNCTION of the PARTS OF THE BODY
Physiology
4 subdiscipline of physiology
Physiology
Cardiovascular
Neurophysiology
Electrophysiology
What adapts to survive the environment
Cells
Tissue that is SIMPLE-shaped and is responsible for protection, covering the tissues underneath it
Epithelial Tissue
Tissue that is FLAT and is responsible for covering of MESOTHELIUM, OUTER & INNER LININGS of the body for cavities
Simple Squamous Epithelia
Tissue is RECTANGULAR in shape has villi and apical surface and is found more on the BASEMENT MEMBRANE and is responsible for ABSORPTION, SECRETION.
Simple Columnar Epithelia
This tissue changes shaped depending if it is empty or filled.
if empty: cuboidal - colimnar
if filled: squamous
Transitional Epithelium
This tissue has cilia and is attached to the basement membrane and look stratified because its nuclei can be found near the base and apical surface but is actually one layer.
Ciliated Pseudostratified Epithelium
This tissue is made mostly of COLLAGENOUS fibers, ELASTIC fibers and RETICULAR fibers (modified collagen fibers) and is responsible for support, site for rbc and wbc synthesis
Loose Connective Tissue
This tissue is made up of PARALLEL bundles of COLLAGEN FIBERS
Fibrous Connective Tissue
This is an IMMATURE type of fiber
Fibroblast
This tissue is NOT MINERALED and has NO CALCIUM. It’s chondrocytes are found on the lucanae
Cartillage
This tissue is MINERALIZED and CALCIFIED. It has a central canal and osteon
Bone
This tissue is composed of FAT DROPLETS, lipids can be seen here. It’s nucleus is pushed to the side and is concentrated more in the abdominal area for male while concentrated more in the hips for female
Adipose Tissue
Types of muscle tissue
Voluntary muscles
Involuntary muscles
Types of involuntary muscles
smooth muscles
cardiac muscles
Types of voluntary muscles
Skeletal muscles
This muscles is ATTACHED to the BONE, is multinucleated, and is innovated by somatic nerves (involves internal body organs, specifically more on the muscles)
Skeletal muscles
This tissue is nucleus is located at the center and has cell body and appendages and is processes of two AXON and DENDRITES.
Nervous tissue
The tissue layers of stomach (outer to inner)
Mucosa
Submucosa
Muscularis
Sarosa
That kind of TISSUE is seen on STOMACH
Simple Columnar Epithelium
A structure that INCREASES the surface area for digestion (synonym of villa)
Rugae
A MATRIX connective tissue that CONTAINS the BLOOD VESSELS and NERVES.
Submucosa
This tissue consists of MOSTLY SMOOTH MUSCLES
Muscularis
A thin layer of connective and epithelial tissue that is external to the muscularis. It has visceral perithoneum
Serosa
These are the supporting cells, surrounding the nucleus
Satellite cells
Epithelial layer that lines the lumen
Mucosa
