Angular Motion and Newton's Analogues Flashcards
What is angular motion
Angular motion involves rotational movement around a fixed point or axis
What is Newton’s first law of angular motion
A rotating body will continue to turn about its axis of rotation with constant angular momentum unless an external rotational force (torque) acts on it
What is Newton’s second law of angular motion
The angular acceleration of a body is proportional to the force (torque) causing it to change and in the direction in which the force (torque) acts
What is Newton’s third law of angular motion
When a force (torque) is applied by one body to another, the second body will exert an equal and opposite force (torque) on the other body.
Define torque and what is its equation

Torque-rotational consequence of a force
Moment of torque(Nm)=force(N)xperpendicular distance from the fulcrum(m)
