Explain angular motion
A system that rotates, spins, swings, or twists around a fixed point (axis of rotation)
What is a Radian?
It is a unit less variable.
It is the angle created where the radius = curved distance on circumference
What is Absolute Angular Position?
Angle relative to some fixed reference (i.e. relative to the horizontal or vertical)
What is Relative Angular Position?
Angle relative to some other reference (ie. the thigh to the trunk = angle at the hip)
What is the angular distance?
Total change in position
What is angular displacement?
change in absolute angular position (similar to linear displacement)
What is angular acceleration?
rate of change of angular velocity or the direction is changed
What is centripetal acceleration?
Acceleration related to an object following a circular path
What is centripetal force?
center directed, inward pull (ie. grip on a racquet)
