What is angina?
A
Ischaemia to the central chest?

What are the two types of angina?
A
Stable angina - induced by effort
Unstable angina - occurs on minimal exertion, frequency and severity increases

What is the test used for angina?
A
None specifically
ECG may show ST depression should there have been a previous MI

What are the symptoms of angina?
A
Chest pain Dyspnoea Nausea Sweatness Fainting

What are the causes of angina?
A
Atheroma - most common
Anaemia
Tachycardias

What is the treatment for angina?
A
Aspirin Beta blockers (Atenolol) GTN Calcium antagonist (Amlodipine) K+ antagonist (Nicorandil)

What type of beta blockers are used in angina?
A
Beta 1 specific
e.g. Atenolol

If you cannot give a patient beta blockers, what do you give in place of them?
A
Ivabradine (Reduces the heart rate)
