Angels, Satan, Demons Flashcards
Describe the Origin and fall of Satan
Satan is a created angel that was created along with the others before creation (Job 38:4-7, Col. 1:16)
Satan was created by God as a holy Angel (Isa. 14:12-14, Ezek. 28:12-14) but fell because of pride (1 Tim 3:6)
Satan led a large group of rebellious angels (demons) with him (Rev. 12:9)
He is real and personal.
Who are angels? Where did they come from? How are they different than humans?
God created angels just as he created humanity, but they are distinct creatures.
Heb. 1:14 - angels were created to serve God and his purposes.
Rev. 5:11-12, Isa. 6:3 - they praise and worship God
Rev. 7:1 - they administer God’s judgment
Explain demon possession
1 Samuel 16:14 - Saul was terrorized by a demon
Luke 8:26-39 - men in Jesus day were possessed by demons and lost control of speech and actions
Believers can not be possessed because they are already possessed by HS (Eph. 1:13)
We have been transfered from darkness to light (Col. 1:13-14) and demons have no authority over us (Col. 2:15)
However, we can be attacked and influenced by demons (Matt. 16:23, 2 Cor. 12:7).
