Aneurysms Flashcards
berry aneurysms most common occur
At the junction of the Anterior communicating artery and the ACA
Berry aneurysms are associated with
ADPKD
Ehlers-Danlos
also risk: age, htn, smoking, african americans
Dilation of the Anterior Communicating Artery can cause
bitemporal hemianopia from compression of the optic chiasm
A Saccular or berry aneurysm can cause someone the worst headache of their life because
it can rupture and cause a subarachnoid hemorrhage
Middle cerebral artery rupture causes ischemia to the normal MCA areas causing
Contralateral paralysis and sensory deficits of the face and upper limb
Posterior communicating aneurysm can cause compression of the
CN III
superficial parasympathetic compression: mydriasis and ptosis
compression of deep somatic fibers of CNIII can result in paralysis of the corresponding ocular muscles (superior rectus, medial rectus, inferior rectus, inferior oblique)
Charchot-Bouchard microaneurysm associated with chronic hypertension and affect small vessels causing lacunar stroke. They damage the striatum and internal capsule leading to
contralateral paralysis and sensory deficits to entire body (upper and lower limbs)
