The principle ground force of sparta. One of the most formidable armies in the greek world.
Knossos
Greece’s largest and most important archaeological site. Served as a cermonial, political , religious and economic centre.
Parthenon
Temple that was dedicated to the goddess Athena. Embodiment of athenian wealth, politics and culture.
Trojan war
Was fought between the greeks and the defenders of troy. Defined and shaped the way ancient greek culture has been viewed.
Polis
Means city in greek. An ancient greek city state.
Delian league
A confederacy of greek city states after the persian war. Helped boost athens.
Peloponnesian War
Fought between Athens and Sparta. Lasted a very long time.
Hellenistic age
The time in Greek History after the classical age, Between the death of Alexander the Great and Cleopatra VII.
