Q

What is the danger of abscesses that are close to the mylohyoid line?

A

The infectious material from the abscess can cause bone to degrade.

If the abscess leaks/bursts, the infectious material can tract back from the tissues and pass through the surrounding connective tissues planes to enter the thorax where it can cause Ludwig’s angina

Q

What is the clinical problem of a large lingula?

A

When giving an IDB can deposit anaesthetic in the wrong place as the needle contacts bone i.e. the large lingula prematurely as opposed to contacting the bone of the ramus .
