Elbow joint
The elbow is a synovial hinge joint that communicates with the proximal radioulnar joint. The radial head articulates with the capitellum of the humerus. The trochlear notch of the ulna articulates with the trochlea of the humerus.
The elbow joint has both static and dynamic stabilisers. Static stabilisers include the capsule and collateral ligaments. The ulnar (medial) collateral ligament consists of three bands: the anterior, middle and posterior. The anterior band is the strongest.
The radial (lateral) ligament is a single flattened band.
Triangles of the Neck
Anterior triangle of the neck - Midline of the neck, Inferior border of the mandible, anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle
Smaller triangles of anterior triangle
Submental - Not paired, Anterior bellies of Digastric and the hyoid bone
Submandibular - Inferior border mandible, anterior and posterior belly diagstric,
Carotid - Posterior belly digastric, anterior belly sternocleddo, omohyoid muscle
Muscular - midline, omohoyoid, sternocleidomastoid
Posterior triangle
Anterior - posterior border of the sternocleidomastoid
Posterior - anterior border of the trapezius
Inferior - middle third of the clavicle
- SUBdivided by omohyoid
