What is the velopharyngeal port?
The gap between the oral and nasal cavity. Closes during speech (except nasal sounds).

The tip of the tongue

The frenulum
What are the two main parts of the tongue?
Oral and pharyngeal
What are the 4 parts of the tongue?
Tongue tip- apex (apical)
Tongue blade- lamina (laminar)
Tongue body- dorsum (dorsal)
Tongue root- pharyngeal part
What is the medical name for the jaw?
The mandible
Where is it joined to the skull/
Temporomandibular joint
What is the purpose of the mandible?
Contributes to movement of the tongue and lower tip.
