Anatomy Odds and Ends Flashcards
What does the ciliary ganglion supply?
Eyeball.
What does the pterygopalatine ganglion supply?
The glands in the palate, and everything above this: nose, nasopharynx, paranasal sinuses, lacrimal gland, and the labial glands of the upper lip.
What does the submandibular ganglion supply?
All the glands in the floor of the mouth.
What does the Otic gland supply?
All glands that open in the vestibule of the mouth (buccal, parotid, molar and labial glands of lower lip).
What is the difference between dorsal and ventral roots?
Dorsal: contains somatic and visceral afferent fibers with cell bodies in DRG.
Ventral: contains somatic and visceral efference fibers with cell bodies in the ventral horn of the spinal cord.
Where are the preganglionic cell bodies located?
lateral horn from T1-L2
Are the grey rami communicantes myelinated?
no (mostly no).
How does the preganglionic neuron enter the ganglion?
Leaves via the lateral horn, and enters ganglion via white ramus.
Do the sympathetic fibers synapse in the ganglion?
No (mostly no).
Where might the preganglionic sympathetic fibers go to synapse?
To ganglia in the cervical region.
What are the anterior divisions of V3?
- Deep temporal
- pterygoid branches
- long buccal
- masseteric branch
What are the posterior divisions of V3?
- auriculotemporal
- pterygoid branches
- long buccal
- masseteric
What does the semilunar connect to?
FAMILY
- Front sinus and Anterior ethmoidal sinus
- Middle ethmoid (ethmoidal bulla)
- maxILarY sinus
Inferior meatus connects to the what?
Nasolacrimal sinus
What is the line at the back of the tongue?
sulcus terminale
