What are the four compartments of the leg?
- Anterior
- Lateral
- Superficial posterior
- Deep Posterior
What muscle, nerve and artery are in the anterior compartment and what action does it do??
Muscle - Tibialis anterior, extensor digitorum longus, extensor hallucis longus
Nerve - Deep peroneal
Artery - anterior tibial
Action - dorsiflexion
What muscle, nerve and artery are in the lateral compartment and what action does it do??
Muscle - Peroneus longus and brevis
Nerve - Superficial peroneal
Action - Eversion and plantarflexion
Artery - None
What muscle, nerve and artery are in the superficial posterior compartment and what action does it do??
Muscle - gastrocnemius, soleus, plantaris
Nerve - Tibial (sural nerve)
Artery - Sural
Action - Plantarflexion
What muscle, nerve and artery are in the deep posterior compartment and what action does it do??
Muscle - Tibialis posterior, flexor digtorum longus, flexor hallucis longus
Nerve - tibial
Artery - posterior tibialis and peroneal (more lateral)
Action - plantar flexion
