Anatomy Lab 3 Flashcards
What features of the clavicle allow you to distinguish
a) Medial from lateral
b) Anterior from posterior
c) Superior from inferior
What is the role of the clavicle in the mechanics of the shoulder?
It is a strut that holds the shoulder laterally.
This provides a firm base for the limb to be positioned
in 3D space, for grasping and manipulating
identify the muscles that attach to the clavicle, and in each case indicate the nerve supply
What bony feature does the anterior scalene muscle arise from?
What about the posterior scalene muscle?
- Anterior Scalene muscles arise from the anterior tubercles of the cervical transverse processes
- Middle and Posterior Scalene muscles arise from the posterior tubercles of cervical transverse processe
What musculature does the accessory nerve supply?
Trapezius
Sternocleidomastoid
What does the cervical plexus (C1, 2, 3, 4, 5) supply?
a) Motor
b) Sensory
a) Infrahyoid strap muscles
Diaphragm (partly)
Rhomboids
Levator scapulae (sometimes)
b) Neck and back of head
The phrenic nerve comes partly from the cervical plexus and partly from the brachial plexus (C3,4,5).
What does it supply?
a) Motor
b) Sensory
a) Diaphragm
b) Peritoneum
Pleura
Pericardium
What passes through this opening in the posterior axillary wall?
“Quadrangular space”
Axillary nerve
Posterior circumflex vessels
