Anatomy: Immune + Lymphatic System Flashcards
Lymph Nodules
not encapsulated
masses compromise of macrophages and lymphocytes
Antibody = Immunoglobulins
protein created in response to specific antigens (foreign bodies)
Spleen
produces macrophages that filter the blood
**
Largest lymphoid organ**
T- Cell
recognizes antigens and attacks them by invading cell directly
B- Cell
recognizes antigens and turns into plasma cells
plasma then creates antibodies to fight antigen
Lymph Nodes
encapsulated
filter lymph
neck, axilla, and groin
Macrophages
WBC that surrounds cells and kills microorganism
removes dead cells
simulates immune system
Antigen
foreign substances with in the body
Thymus
thymosin
devlops T-cells which attack antigens within the immune system
Interstitial Fluid
fluid between cells
once collected and filtered it is a lymph
Function of the lymphatic system
prevent infection
activates the body defenses
produce B and T Cells
