Lips are anterior to your teeth
Teeth are posterior to lips

superior (upwards)

Lips are superior to your chin. Chin inferior to lips
towards midline vs away from midline
MEDIAL– towards the MIDLINE
LATERAL- away from MIDLINE
*not the middle of body. MIDLINE
- ears are lateral to midline
- cheeks are medial to midline
towards point of attachment vs away point of attachment
Proximal - towards point of attachment
Distal- away from point of attachment of the limb of the body
closer to surface of body

Superficial- surface level
Deep- father away from surface of body
Skin is superficial to muscle
joint angle decreases when bending
joint angle increase
flexion- bending. Joint angle decreases
Extension- extension. Joint angle increases
move segments away from body

Abduction (“ab”) move body segments away from body
Adduction (“ad”) move body segments towards the body
point toes/stand on tippy toes

Planter Flexion- point your toes/ stand on tippy toes
Dorsiflexion- curl toes upwards

Supination- palm of hand face upwards (carry soup)
Probation- palm facing down

Envision- bottom of foot point outward

EXTERNAL ROTATION - Twist or turn body part OUTWARD from the midline
INTERNAL ROTATION twist or turn TOWARD the midline
