Q

What is Suxamethonium Apnoea?

A

Pts don’t gave the plasma cholinesterases to metabolise suxamethonium (paralytic agent). This causes a build up of the drug at the post-synaptic membrane at the NMJ.
Pts have reduced effort to cough/breathe spontaneously at the end of a procedure and will desaturate, they need to be intubated and ventilated.
