Anaerobic Respiration Flashcards
1
Q
When is anaerobic respiration used?
A
This is when oxygen is insufficient and not reaching muscles. So glycogen is converted to glucose.
2
Q
What is Anaerobic respiration ?
A
The incomplete breakdown of glucose without oxygen, producing lactic acid
3
Q
Does Anaerobic respiration release more or less energy ?
A
This releases less energy than aerobic respiration
4
Q
What does Anaerobic respiration result in ?
A
This results in Oxygen debt, where you have to breathe in oxygen to oxidise lactic acid and carbon dioxide.
5
Q
What causes muscle fatigue
A
The build up of lactic acid
6
Q
What does blood do?
A
This removes the lactic acid
7
Q
How does lactic acid build up?
A
This builds up from long periods of vigorous exercise.
