A
  1. In 3mg/ml or higher concentrations, may cause phlebitis. Infusion concentrations should not exceed 2mg/ml; 2. Will precipitate if used in same IV line as Sodium Bicarb or heparin

Side effects and Notes

A

in perfusing pts, may cause low BP, prolonged QT, Torsades and V-Fib, severe braycardia and AV blocks; 2. non-cardiac toxicities are usually related to chronic administration and include pulmonary infiltrates, hepatic, and/or thyroid dysfunction and peripheral neuropathy

Adult Dose

A

V-Fib/Pulseless V-Tach- 300 mg, repeat with 150 mg; V-Tach with a pulse- 150 mg mixed with 100 ml NS and infuse over 10 minutes

Ped Dose

A

V-Fib/ Pulseless V-Tach- 5mg/kg may repeat x2 up to 15 mg/kg; V-Tach with a pulse- 5mg/kg over 20mg mixed with 2ml/kg NS, may repeat x2 up to 15mg/kg
