A plan to unite New England colonies as a whole under a more centralized government. This plan was never acted out.
Albany Plan of Union of 1754
Set territorial limits on where colonists could live in America. It split the territory into two sides of the Appalachian Mountains. Europeans got the east side, while the Indians got the west.
Proclamation of 1763
How did colonists feel about the Proclamation of 1763?
They felt like this was restrictive and unfair. Despite the law, they still frequently passed the border anyway because they wanted good farmland and also resented British restrictions.
An act to end sugar and molasses smuggling by cutting taxes on molasses. New taxes were imposed on other imported goods.
Sugar Act of 1774
An act that required colonies to provide lodging (housing) for British soldiers in barracks or public houses. Colonists had to supply them with food, drinks, and other necessities.
Quartering Act of 1765
Required colonists to pay tax for official documents, papers, and even playing cards (basically anything on paper) to pay for the French and Indian War.
Stamp Act of 1765
An act repealing (abolishing or getting rid of) the Stamp Act due to intense backlash and boycotting. Yet it emphasizes Britainβs complete control over the colonies.
Declaratory Act of 1766
A secret patriotic organization that intimidated the British government using disobedience and sometimes violence.
The Sons of Liberty
A mass killing that occurred in Boston that killed five violent protestors in a riot. No one knows if the gunshots were instructed or not.
Boston Massacre of 1770
An event where American colonists disguised as Mohawk Native Americans tossed 342 baskets of tea into Boston Harbor.
