What does the A criterion state?
Exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, sexual violence
What does the B criterion state?
Trauma-related intrusions
What does the C criterion state?
Trauma-related persistent avoidance
What does the D criterion state?
Negative alterations in cognitions and mood related to trauma
What does the E criterion state?
Trauma-related alterations in arousal and reactivity
What do criteria F-H state?
Disturbance > 1 month
Clinically significant distress + impairment
Not attributable to some sorta other problem
What other parts can be mixed and matched with a PTSD diagnosis?
With dissociative symptoms (de-realisation or de-personalisation)
With delayed expression: full criteria only min. 6 months post trauma
For children <6: fewer symptoms, nightmares not necessarily trauma-related, play/ re-enactment; possible that developmental regression
What’s the general PTSD prevalence in a civilian population?
7-8%
Which populations have higher PTSD prevalence?
Trauma-exposed populations (rape survivors, military combat/ captivity, political violence, e.g., genocide)
