A

Closed down NRA, AAA and PWA for undermining state laws and imposing too much control
Accused FDR of being a communist/dictator as FDR threatened to sack 6 judges

Social Problems immigrants faced in the 1920s?

A

Due to lack of money:
Lived in ghettos (With NYC being heavily populated with ghettos)
Were constantly being accused of being disease spreaders, causing crime/alcoholism and gambling to rise and were labelled communist
With J Edgar Hoover building up 60,000 cases on comunist immigrants
1924, Johnson Reid Act capped immigration at 150,000 and banned Eastern European migration

A

1919-1927 workers rose from $1150 to $1300 whilst millionares rose from 7,000 to 35,000
Unemployment stayed at 4%
Only 10% went to the bottom 42%

200,000 black and 50,000 white attended 1963 March
Bus lost 65% of its income
1954 Earl Warren ruled segregation should be stopped with delibrate speed
Equal pay act in 1963 but women still paid 70% of men

A

Great Society changed minimum wage from $1.25 to $1.40
Great Society spent $2.9b on houses building 240,000 new homes
New Frontier setup peace corps and gave $900m to businesses to create more jobs
